Dr Jarman is originally from six generations of sheep farmers in New Zealand. James trained in New Zealand, Ireland, the UK and Australia.

He received the Cecil Gray prize for topping the ANZCA final exam and merit for the Pain Fellowship exam.

James is now the director of Acute Pain Service at St John of God Midland public and private hospital and a pain specialist at PainScience in Joondalup, Western Australia. His previous position was as an anaesthetist at Mackay Base Hospital from 2012-2014.

He is an avid CrossFitter and Black Caps/ All Blacks supporter.
