Consultant anaesthetist and departmental academic head - South Tees Hospitals (UK)

Professor Gerard Danjoux is a consultant anaesthetist and departmental academic head at South Tees Hospitals (UK). He holds Honorary Chairs at Hull York Medical School and Teesside University and was co-founder of the North Yorkshire Academic Alliance of Perioperative Medicine (2022). He is Vice-President of the International Prehabilitation and Perioperative Exercise Testing Society (iPOETTS) and was co-lead organiser of the World Congresses in London (2019 and 2023). 

His main clinical interest focuses on evaluating and preparing patients for high-risk surgery. Since 2005 he has led pioneering international research in the field of prehabilitation, with a current emphasis on digital innovations and co-design. Since 2022 he has led a regional prehabilitation programme supporting the physical, mental and social health of patients from areas of high social deprivation, recently achieving national recognition for his innovative leadership.
