New chief editor for journal

Congratulations to Professor Philip Peyton FANZCA, who assumes the role of chief editor of Anaesthesia & Intensive Care in October.

Professor Peyton succeeds Associate Professor John Loadsman FANZCA as the seventh chief editor of the internationally recognised bimonthly journal, first published in August 1972.  

Professor Peyton is a Victoria-based Australian anaesthetist and researcher whose career spans more than 30 years. A former chair of the ANZCA Clinical Trials Network, he has received career research grant funding as a chief investigator, including several large NHMRC grants, totalling approximately $A20 million.  

His research interests range widely from basic and applied science in anaesthetic physiology and pharmacology, to meta-research and large clinical trials in perioperative medicine. He has an honorary appointment as a Professorial Fellow in the Department of Critical Care, Faculty of Medicine Dentistry and Health Sciences, University of Melbourne, and is the immediate past Head of Research in the Department of Anaesthesia at Austin Health, Melbourne.  

Anaesthesia & Intensive Care is the official journal of the Australian Society of Anaesthetists, the Australian and New Zealand Intensive Care Society and the New Zealand Society of Anaesthetists. It is available to anyone with a College ID via the ANZCA Library.
