The patient clinical interaction assessment (PCIA) update

From 2025 advanced trainees (AT) in the ANZCA Anaesthesia Training Program and specialist international medical graduates (SIMGs) who are on the exam pathway, will be required to undertake the patient clinical interaction assessment.

To support the delivery of the PCIA, guidance and assessment resources have been prepared and will be available on the new PCIA library guide in mid-December 2024.

Clinical directors (CDs) /heads of department (HODs) are responsible for the local implementation of the PCIA and requested to appoint PCIA assessors for 2025. Key implementation documents were shared with CDs/HODs via email on 17 October 2024.
