Professional practice research grants

Professional practice research (PPR) grants support research comprising a range of methodologies and methods including but not limited to qualitative approaches such as ethnography and action research in the ANZCA professional practice domains of communicator, collaborator, leader and manager, scholar, health advocate and professional in anaesthesia, perioperative and pain medicine.
 
These grants are to support high quality research to provide evidence for effective, efficient, safe, and equitable professional practices in anaesthesia, perioperative and pain medicine for patients, organisations and staff and include the areas of education, simulation, and strategies for translating and implementing evidence into clinical practice.

The ANZCA Research Committee and the Professional Practice Research Network Executive have discontinued the simulation/education grant with related research now eligible for the Professional Practice Research Grants. The ANZCA Research Committee will fund at least the top two most highly-ranked PPR grant applications above the minimum committee score required for funding. Unsuccessful PPR grants will also be considered for and compete with project grant applications based on the research committee ranking.

Eligibility

• Chief investigator A (first named investigator) must be a fellow or registered trainee of the college.  However, if chief investigator A is a registered trainee, one of the other chief investigators must be a fellow of the college.  
• Grants are usually awarded for one year, however multi-year funding grants are available for a second year of additional funding, with the second year capped at $A50,000. 
• Higher degree scholarships may be made within a PPR grant application.
