Specialist international medical graduates
The Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) and the Faculty of Pain Medicine (FPM) have several pathways open to overseas trained anaesthetists and pain medicine specialists. Information on these pathways can be found below.
The specialist international medical graduate (SIMG) assessment process evaluates the ability of a specialist to practise as an unsupervised specialist anaesthetist and/or pain medicine specialist at a standard comparable to that required of a fellow of ANZCA (FANZCA)/fellow of the FPM, ANZCA (FFPMANZCA). The SIMG Committee co-ordinates the assessment guided by ANZCA’s regulation 23.
