Associate Professor Gavin Wright

Associate Professor Gavin Wright is Director of Surgical Oncology at St Vincent’s Hospital and consultant thoracic surgeon at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and Royal Melbourne Hospital. He is the Chair of Cancer Australia’s Lung Cancer Advisory Group. 

He is a pioneer of VATS/robotic thoracic surgery in Australia. He recently organised a workshop to introduce prehabilitation into the neoadjuvant pathway for resectable lung cancer.

He oversees a surgical oncology research office with 6 trial coordinators and 2 assistants. He completed his PhD in the molecular biology of lung cancer and has published over 150 peer-reviewed papers.
