Dr Peter Gilchrist

 

Rural Generalist Anaesthetist (RGA), Flinders and Upper North Local Health Network

Dr Gilchrist is a Rural Generalist Anaesthetist (RGA) and the Rural Generalist Anaesthetic Advisor to the Rural Generalist Program South Australia. He is a fellow of both ACRRM and the RACGP.

Dr Gilchrist has worked extensively across rural Australia, including as a RGA and Partner with Bridge Clinic in Murray Bridge for 7 years. He is currently working for the Flinders and Upper North Local Health Network providing emergency and elective anaesthesia, emergency care and inpatient care, and as an adjunct senior lecturer clinical educator for University of Adelaide medical students. 

Dr Gilchrist is a supervisor of training for the Advanced Certificate of Rural Generalist Anaesthesia (ACRGA) Whyalla trainee. He is one of the SA State Support Officers for the program, deputy chairperson of the exam committee and chairperson for the Tripartite Committee of Rural Generalist Anaesthesia. The ACRGA is a collaboration between the ANZCA, the ACRRM and the RACGP. The Tripartite Committe is responsible for ensuring the consistent implementation of the ACRGA and maintaining the professional standards.

Dr Gilchrist also chairs the RACGP Rural Anaesthetics Working Group, which considers common issues facing RGA’s along with the promotion and development of advanced skill training.
