Honorary Historian role

Are you interested in the history of anaesthesia, pain and perioperative medicine? We're seeking expressions of interest for the role of Honorary Historian.
The Honorary Historian position is undertaken primarily as a historical research role but also includes an advisory component as a member of the History and Heritage Advisory Panel. The Honorary Historian works with the Geoffrey Kaye Museum of Anaesthetic History to develop a comprehensive history of college, the faculties, the specialties, and individual fellows.
Roles of the Honorary Historian
- Conduct and facilitate research, using the ANZCA archives and other resources, into the lives of ANZCA, Faculty of Anaesthetists, Faculty of Pain Medicine, and Joint Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine fellows for the Lives of the Fellows platform.
- Conduct and facilitate research, using the ANZCA archives and other resources, into the history of ANZCA and its predecessor.
- Conduct and facilitate research, using the ANZCA archives and other resources, into the history of the specialties of anaesthesia, pain and perioperative medicine and related subjects, particularly in preparation for ANZCA events and milestones.
- Contribute to and liaise with the History and Heritage Advisory Panel.
- Contribute to outreach and public programming, in collaboration with the museum curator and honorary curator, through avenues such as ANZCA Bulletin articles, museum blog posts, and history events.
- Foster and maintain links and partnerships with relevant collection and research bodies in Australia, New Zealand and overseas to further: research, interpretation and promotion of the Collection and the general history of anaesthesia and pain medicine.
The Honorary Historian reports to the ANZCA CEO, with the appointment approved by ANZCA Council.
Initial appointment will require the presentation of a brief CV outlining relevant experience, skills and attributes.
