Fellows recognised in AMA awards

14 August 2024

Two ANZCA fellows have been recognised in the 2024 Australian Medical Association (AMA) annual awards.

The annual awards are presented at the AMA national conference, honouring those who exemplify medicine’s highest values, and outstanding achievements that improve the health of all Australians.

ANZCA fellow, researcher and teacher Professor André Van Zundert was awarded the 2024 AMA Excellence in Healthcare Award. Professor Van Zundert was presented the award in recognition of his commitment to medicine, research, teaching and volunteering.

Professor Van Zundert was a keynote speaker at the 2024 ANZCA Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) in Brisbane earlier this year.

ANZCA fellow Associate Professor Suzi Nou was also awarded and received the AMA 2024 President’s Award for her outstanding advocacy work on private practice.

Associate Professor Nou, the immediate past president of the federal Australian Society of Anaesthetists (ASA), was committed to improving conditions for medical professionals and ensuring patients have access to the best possible care.
