Dr Lan-Hoa Le

Dr. Lan-Hoa Le is a Bariatric Anaesthetist at the Central Coast NSW Australia since 2008. Her high-volume obesity and bariatric anaesthesia practice reaches an average caseload of 500 patients per year.

Dr. Le’s initiative on a clinician driven model to achieve high reliability outcome has led a successful local program on Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) for weight-loss. She commenced a bariatric protocol for pre-admissions clinic and a post- operative nausea & vomiting control guideline.

Lan-Hoa founded the Australian Society of Anaesthetists (ASA) Obesity & Bariatric club during her term as NSW Chair. Her recent presentations included Perioperative & Ambulatory avoiding pain and nausea at this year’s 18th World Congress of Anaesthesiology in Singapore, and 2023 ASA National Scientific Congress on perioperative optimisation for the obese and bariatric patients.

Join Dr. Le at the upcoming 13th Australasian Symposium of the Perioperative Medicine SIG in collaboration with Summit III and the PeriOperative Quality Initiative (POQI), for a session on surgery in Obese or Bariatric patients & Perioperative Care – protecting goals and future values. Dr Le will present on “Building teams & clinician driven High Reliability Organisation (HRO) - using a local model to address common challenges and anaesthetic disasters such mas PONV, acute pain and airway optimisation to reduce length of stay in the obese or bariatric patient”.
