Fellows, trainees, SOTs career survey

17 July 2024

Early career medical specialists’ choice of specialty and geographic practice location is being explored as part of an Australian government survey being undertaken to help analyse the effectiveness of the Specialist Training Program (STP).

Targeting fellows, trainees, supervisors of training and medical students, the survey will help assess the implementation, appropriateness, and effectiveness of STP programs.

STP aims to improve the quality of the future specialist workforce by providing registrars with exposure to a broader range of healthcare settings by extending vocational training for specialist registrars (trainees) into settings outside traditional metropolitan teaching hospitals, including regional, rural, remote, and private facilities.

The survey will take less than 10 minutes and asks for your views about the drivers underpinning medical practitioners’ choice of specialty and where they practise.

At the end of the survey you have an option to provide contact details if you would like to be interviewed to further explore attitudes and decision-making processes of medical specialists (this is completely optional).

The survey can be taken via this link.
