FANZCA joins AMA council

Congratulations to Canberra fellow Dr Girish Palnitkar who has been elected to the Federal Australian Medical Association (AMA) Council as the anaesthesia representative.

The council is composed of five practice group representatives, 12 specialty group representatives, seven state nominees, three ordinary members, one independent representative and one representative each for the Australian Medical Students’ Association and the Australian Indigenous Doctors’ Association. 

Dr Girish Palnitkar joins the council as the Anaesthetists Speciality Group Representative. Dr Palnitkar has been working in Canberra as a consultant since 2010 and has a diverse public and private practice that spans a variety of surgical specialities including cardiac, upper gastrointestinal, neurosurgical, ENT and orthopaedics.

The new Federal Council will begin its term from August 2024.
