New-look website coming soon!

Find out what's new and when you can expect to see it.

For the past 12 months, we've been working on an essential technology upgrade to the ANZCA website, which has required us to rebuild the site in a new content management system (CMS). The new CMS will deliver a range of enhancements that will improve user experience on the ANZCA website including improved search function, faster loading times and meeting international accessibility standards. This work is now nearing completion, and we're on track to switch over to the new site in February.

What's new?

Migrating to a new platform is just the first step in a multi-year strategic prioritised roadmap to ensure our website meets current and future business needs. The focus of this first phase of work has been on delivering an "expedited build" to ensure the smoothest possible transition from one CMS to another.

We've taken the opportunity to give the site a bit of a makeover, but we've kept the structure and content as close as possible to the current site for now, so it will still feel familiar to you. The rotating banners and glitchy menu are gone, and we've introduced a range of enhancements to ensure the site meets international accessibility standards.

We've also substantially improved the in-site search function, and started to implement a search engine optimisation strategy that will ensure our site continues to be a trusted source of information in the age of artificial intelligence (AI).

Other key changes we're introducing in phase one include:

  • Creating curated content pages for the Faculty of Pain Medicine and Chapter of Perioperative Medicine to provide a "one-stop shop" for anyone interested in pain and perioperative medicine.
  • Providing access to the ANZCA and FPM Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Program content by moving it to the main navigation bar.
  • Streamlining our Education and Training section by curating content under three new specialty-based landing pages.
  • Combining news and safety alerts into a single, searchable and filterable list.
  • Making the “Contact us” page more prominent by moving it from the footer to the header.

How will this affect me?

The approach we've taken is aimed at causing as little disruption as possible, and we don't expect the site to be down for more than an hour during the switchover. We'll be automatically redirecting all key pages and documents, so if you've bookmarked content, those links should still work. It's worth noting, however, that this is an imperfect science and some links may direct you to a temporary navigation page with simple instructions on how to find what you're looking for using the enhanced site search.

It's also important to understand that some of the features you'll be familiar with from the current site, such as curated news and events, are still to be implemented. So please bear with us while we focus on getting the basics right, and we'll look forward to letting you know whenever we launch new features and functionality.

What's next?

You can expect to see a lot of new features and functionality appearing throughout the year, including the ability to search and filter documents; improvements to in-page navigation; and an increasing number of online forms. We'll also be seeking your feedback on what you want to see; after all, this is your site and we want to give you the best possible experience.
