The CRSC had its inaugural meeting in September 2024 and has a mixture of areas of focus, and a wide range of opportunities to examine, innovate and optimise the curriculum. The early priorities of the CRSC are linked to conditions from the Australian Medical Council (AMC) and Medical Council of New Zealand’s re-accreditation of ANZCA in 2022.
Initial priorities include work on program and graduate outcomes; work to commence embedding cultural safety and undertaking an Indigenous health review of the training curriculum through a values and principles-based approach; and efforts to better understand VOP and SSU access as we examine optimal training requirements and training capacity. The CRSC also has a responsibility to maintain the currency and integrity of the existing curriculum including incorporating changes related to other ANZCA initiatives like the dual training pathway and changes to introductory training assessment.
