In June 2023, our Global Development Committee released a new five-year strategic priorities plan to ensure services to build capacity in low-and middle-income countries are balanced and in line with support identified by colleagues in the Pacific; the global surgery and anaesthesia landscape; and the strengths of our committee and fellowship. The following overarching areas are used to frame the committee's strategic priorites for 2023-2027

Essential Pain Management (EPM) is a short, easily deliverable, cost-effective, multi-disciplinary program designed to improve pain management worldwide.
Lifebox Australia and New Zealand (Lifebox ANZ) is a joint, regional project developed to ensure access to life-saving monitoring during surgery, through the purchasing and distribution of pulse oximeters and capnographs to hospitals across the Asia Pacific region.
The Global Development Committee supports both local and international anesthetists through scholarships to support training and improve global health knowledge and understanding.
ANZCA works alongside colleagues in Papua New Guinea and other Pacific nations to help build and support their workforce capacity though educational and support initiatives as guided by colleagues in-country.
