Registration
The course is open to specified medical specialists who are interested in the field of perioperative medicine. Enrolment for 2025 trimester 2 opens on 3 March 2025 and closes on 4 May 2025. The course commences on 2 June 2025.
Eligibility
Participants will be considered from the list of medical specialties (below) and in order of receipt of application.
Applicants must be:
A registered medical practitioner with the relevant medical board authority.
A practicing fellow, or have completed the fellowship examinations of one of the following colleges:
Australasian College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) (including most fellows of the Faculty of Pain Medicine).
Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM).
College of Intensive Care Medicine (CICM).
Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP).
RACP trainees must be within 12 months (full-time equivalent) of expected completion of their primary fellowship.
Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS).
Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP).
Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners (RNZCGP).
Applicants must also provide:
- Currently employed at one of the affiliated hospitals: Evidence of employment at one of the affiliated hospitals and a letter of support from the Head of Department offering the course's clinical immersion component.
- Currently not employed at one of the affiliated hospitals: Evidence of employment, a letter of support from the Head of the Department of the affiliated hospital and a confirmation of the availability of a clinical immersion placement for the required trimester from the affiliated hospital.
Enrolment process
To apply for the course, applicants are asked to complete the following steps:
- Complete the registration form and include all supporting documents.
- Submit the registration form and any supporting documents to us during the enrolment period.
- The ANZCA Chapter of Perioperative Medicine team will contact you regarding payment details once your eligibility is confirmed.
Only applicants from participating clinical immersion sites in Australia or New Zealand will be considered for 2025.

Confirmation of enrolment
You will receive acknowledgement of your application within three business days and, we will confirm your enrolment once your supporting documents have been verified. Once your place is confirmed, payment of fees is required. We will confirm details of your allocated supervisor at least one week prior to course commencement.
There are limited places for each cohort, enrolment therefore will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
Clinical-based assessment forms
The clinical-based assessments are completed on the online learning management system (LMS) – Learn@ANZCA – by the supervisor/assessor. If internet availability prevents access to the LMS where the assessments are located, the assessment forms can be downloaded by the supervisors/assessors. Please notify us if you are experiencing any issues accessing the assessment documents on the LMS.
Application for Reconsideration, Review or Appeal

The course is delivered under the governance of the Board of the Chapter of Perioperative Medicine and the Chapter of Perioperative Medicine Education and Assessment Committee with the oversight from the ANZCA Council.
