Prestigious awards announced

It is with great pleasure that we are able to announce the recipients of our latest ANZCA Council Awards.
Five fellows have been awarded the council’s highest honour, the Robert Orton Medal – former dean Associate Professor Meredith Craigie, Associate Professor Newman Harris, Associate Professor Wayne Morriss, Dr Brian Spain and Dr Martin Culwick.
ANZCA Council also voted to award the ANZCA Medal to six fellows: Associate Professor Nicole Phillips, Dr John McGuinness OAM RFD, Dr Anna Hallett, Dr Jacob Koshy, Do John Copland and Associate Professor Carolyn Arnold.
Dr Jennifer Bruce was awarded the ANZCA Council Citation.

The highest award the college can bestow on its fellows recognises distinguished service to anaesthesia, perioperative medicine and/or pain medicine.
The ANZCA Medal recognises major contributions by fellows to the status of anaesthesia, intensive care, pain medicine or related specialties.
Awarded to fellows in recognition of significant contributions to activities of the college.
Awarded in recognition of significant contributions at a regional level to anaesthesia, perioperative medicine and/or pain medicine.
Awarded in recognition of those who make extraordinary and critically important contributions (clinical or non-clinical) in times of major disaster, conflict or in other circumstances outside the college.
The five ANZCA Council Awards recognise the most significant and extraordinary contributions (clinical and non-clinical) made by our fellows, trainees, and SIMGs.
